CRAFT TIME - Starting October at Martha Capyk’s home - To make items to send in the May 2008 bales - Stay tuned for more information! A NOTE FROM MARTHA If you are thinking of purchasing wool for the knitting or crocheting of any of the items listed below ….. - Consider a wool blend yarn or a yarn labeled ‘superwash’. That way an inexperienced launderer will not have a sad, shrunken item of clothing. - Mittens for an adult hand take about 100gms of fiber. A worsted weight (read the ball band) is great for mittens. - Sweaters need about 400gm to 1500 gms depending on the size of the person you are knitting it for. May I suggest you choose a small project to start with? Remember “Better finished than Perfect”. I have A LOT of patterns and wool I would love to use up. The first night of our gathering, I will have LOTS and LOTS of ideas and options laid out on my dining room table. Come and get inspired by some wool or by one of the patterns. If you want to browse the FREE pattern web sites here are my favourite links: www.knittingpatterncentral.com www.knitty.com/ISSUEsummer07/index.html www.knittingdaily.com If you are a sewer I have tons of patterns (infant, children and adolescent and adult) for that too. I have a crazy amount of ½ to 1 meter lengths of great stuff…also up for creativity. If you want to get started on something RIGHT NOW, email me and I can help you out. The ladies at “Wool Tyme” (Colonnade Rd.) are also really great to help with knitting questions and help in putting a project together (ie needles, pattern, wool).
